Try not to laugh to hard, but until last week, I had never had baked beans. Not that I know of. I had some heirloom beans that I had cooked the previous day and thought the recipe from Robin Robertson’s 1,000 Vegan Recipes looked interesting enough to try.
Was it easy to make? Yes, if you don’t want to make beans from scratch ahead of time, you can easily used canned beans.
Did the family like it? They loved it. Including the 8 year old food critic.
Would I make it again? Yes, don’t know why I waited so long to make baked beans.
The only differences that I did were to use my heirloom beans instead of a can of beans and I didn’t use any oil when sauteing onions.
